There’s beauty in not having a typical 9–5 job, you are a corporate monkey but you are the ringmaster of your own circus. There are deadlines to chase but you do little moon-dance while edging towards it, you have a dedicated desk but your mind wanders everywhere, this non-conformative 9–5 job is the job of a writer.

While imagination needs no passport, using your actual passport is also pretty fun sometimes. Wandering off to far off places and absorbing their culture widens the horizon of creativity. You might wonder, but Urvi there is a language barrier, how do you get inspired? Let me take you through it.

Everything Japanese in Japan.
The thing that amazed me the most in Japan was their dependency on their mother tongue. They walk, talk, eat, and sleep in Japanese. And it made me question, will this not discourage tourism, will they come off as stand off-ish. But the more I saw, the more I understood that owning your mother tongue can do wonders for your culture. And there I decided that our products in Gameskraft should also own up regional languages in their UI/UX.

Write like they talk, ft. North India
One thing that we often forget is how real India talks. Heart of India doesn’t use “suss” in their vocabulary, they are not familiar with fancy english phrases, they talk in a conversational hindi (or their local language). When I traveled to Himachal, I was immediately humbled by the fact that even after being born and brought up in the north, I don’t really know hindi.
So I interacted with the locals even more and tried to bring back conversational language in our product’s communication. This brings relatability to our brand and makes it more human.

Clean aesthetics, pretty designs. All about Bangkok.

I know, I know what you are thinking, Bangkok is the party hub of Asia, how can one get inspired to write there. Our work as creative individuals is not only about words but also visuals. And no one treats visuals better than South Asia. They are the definition of aesthetics. And so one thing that I took from Thailand is the- clean and vibrant aesthetics.

Like they say, inspiration can be found anywhere, sometimes it’s one Google search away and other times, a flight. So the next time you are creatively stuck, just scroll through your gallery or think of real life experiences, there’s nothing more unique and motivating than them.
